Licensed Lay Ministry provides a unique perspective in the leadership of local churches: the Licensed Lay Minister bears the authority of the Bishop’s Licence both inside and outside the run of ‘church’ activity. So, with one foot in church and the other in the ‘outside world’, LLMs are especially well-placed to speak God’s light, love, truth and hope with power and effect in both directions.

With that in mind, this 20-week module has been designed to help you explore theological, pastoral and practical responses to many of the presenting issues of today. You will explore questions of human heartache, cultural shock, loss, disorientation, scientific progress, systemic injustice and personal failure. The goal of the module is to enable you to practice theologically interpreting the missional context in which you find yourself. It will offer you the opportunity to learn from experienced practitioners and experts in specific areas as well as to take your own steps towards formulating theological and pastoral responses to those issues.
