This 10-week module invites you to sustained reflection on what it means to read the Old Testament well with and for the Christian Church.  To this end, the module will enable you to consider the task of reading Scripture, introduce you to the specific genres of the Old Testament, and help you develop an understanding of its place within the context of the whole story of Scripture. Over the duration of this module, you may expect to: a) grow in your knowledge of the message of the Old Testament; b) build your confidence in speaking about and teaching the Old Testament as Christian Scripture; c) learn to read different parts and genres as a pre-cursor to teaching from Scripture as a whole as well as with specific selected texts; d) develop an awareness of different approaches to Scripture and explore the use and value of secondary literature (e.g. bible commentaries).
